Antonio Citterio

Antonio Citterio was born in Meda, Italy, in 1950. He opened his own studio in 1972 and graduated in architecture from Milan Polytechnic in 1975. From 1987 to 1996, he designed buildings in Europe and Japan with Terry Dawn as his partner. in 2000, Citterio and Patricia Viel founded an interdisciplinary studio for architecture, interior design and graphic design. The studio operates internationally and develops complex, long-term projects, drawing on a qualified network of specialized consultants, and is now called "Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel".

In addition to Vitra, Antonio Citterio works in the field of industrial design with companies such as Ansorg, Arclinea, Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Hermès, Iittala, Kartell, Maxalto, Sanitec (Geberit Group) and Technogym. His awards include the Compasso d'Oro in 1987 and 1994. From 2006 to 2016, Citterio was a professor at the Accademia di Architettura dell' Università della Svizzera Italiana in Mendrisio. in 2008, the "Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce" in London appointed him "Royal Designer for Industry".
